HATE WORKING RETAIL!

Published by under Uncategorized

For all who don’t know I have been working for Blockbuster FOREVER now!  I have been an Assistant store manager for the majority of the time and I AM SO SICK OF IT!!!  I have finally put in my two weeks notice because I just can’t take it anymore!  The job is just not fun anymore, I can’t stand the way the company is run and I just can’t work there anymore.  I am great at sales and great in customer service but it gets SOOO old!!! For example I can’t stand it when people are rude just to be obnoxious.  Like this guy today comes up to the register and I ask “how are you doing?” and just to be rude he just stares at me.  So I pull up his account and had to verify the information and OH MY GOODNESS the fact that I had the nerve to ask if his address and phone number were correct was absolutely insulting!  I got the headshake that was barely even a nod at all.  Then his account was eligible for a few more free rentals and when I asked if he wanted to use them he was even more annoyed.  Finally as I’m trying to tell him the due dates he says, “you know I don’t really hate you people.”  As if to let me know that he was just being rude to be funny but thats not really how he is.  I just looked at him.  He walked out and said “yeah, yeah due back on whatever…”  I just stared at him again and was thinking “what do you mean by ‘you people’?”  It’s like people behind the counter don’t deserve the same amount of respect as anyone else.  I can’t stand that.  I want to look them in the face and say “you obviously have never worked a day “behind the counter” and/or just have no people skills at all.  How is it possible that you have any friends at all!?” OR SOMETHING EVEN WORSE (if I could think of something on the spot).  While we are on the topic a couple more things I can’t stand are people who either come in to blockbuster one minute to close and you tell them really nicely that you are actually locking your doors so they should hurry and then they still hang around for like 10 minutes or they come after you have closed, doors are locked, money is going in the safe and they bang on the window and ask to be let in.  NO!!! ARE YOU AN IDIOT?!?!?!?! First of all I’m not going to let a stranger into my store when all my money is there for the taking.  Second I WANT TO FREAKIN GO HOME!!!! I have been dealing with rude people all night and I don’t need one more.  Seriously who do you think you are?!  Like this guy the other night, bangs on the window and asks to come in, I say “sorry we are closed” and he says, “well the lights are on?!” YOU WANT ME TO TRY TO COUNT MONEY AND DO ALL MY PAPER WORK IN THE DARK?  Seriously…..or another thing.  I can’t stand it when I’m at the register helping a customer.  I am in the middle of a sentance and someone will walk right up almost in front of the customer that I am in the middle of helping and ask something really DUMB like “do you guys have 27 dresses?” and there is a HUGE display for 27 dresses and a million copies of the movie right in front of them.  It’s one thing to be in a hurry and want someone to direct you in the right direction but it is another thing to interupt another customer for really anything.  I just honestly don’t understand what the world is coming to.  I can’t wait till I can move on and make movies with my handsom husband and go into a store and treat “those people” with kindness and respect.  A little patience goes a long way.  Alright I guess I am done although I could go on and on.  I guess I just hope that anyone that reads this is just a little nicer the next time they need help from someone “behind the counter”.  Honestly the day gets so long and you may not believe it but we really do just want to help you and give you the best service we can and it doesn’t just MAKE OUR DAY to cause you problems.

Kirtland, Ohio

Published by under Uncategorized

Today Burgess and I decided to drive to Kirtland Ohio to see the Temple and the visitors center.  It was such a beautiful day today!  It was about 70 degrees bright sunny day clear blue skies(which is a great relief after the rain we have had for the past 3 weeks)…absolutely perfect day!!!!  The drive is only about 2 hours from here and with the beautiful day the drive was awesome in itself.  We went to the Temple first.  It was very beautiful.  The Community of Christ church does a great job of taking care of it.  We were a little disapointed that we did not get to go to the third floor because of the size of our group but it really was cool.  We learned that it took 3 years to build and cost the saints about $40,000-$70,000 (burgess and I can’t agree on the amount) to build.  It was really amazing to be in a place where the Prophet Joseph Smith had once been along with other brave men that sacrificed to restore the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the earth.  Then we went down to the visitors center and got to go through a tour of the many buildings that were in the town of Kirtland.  We got to see the mill and the ashery (MY GOODNESS!!! IF ONLY PEOPLE WERE AS EFFICIANT AND SELF SUFFICIANT AS THESE PEOPLE!!!!!).  We also got to see the Newel K. Whitney home and store.  It was really amazing to be in the room above the store known as the “School of the Prophets” where the leaders of the church were taught the gospel and instructed to humble themselves before the Lord and they would see the face of the Lord.  Many revelations that we rely on today were received in this place.  The spirit was very strong with us while we were there.  We both felt an extreem rush of gratitude for the Gospel in our lives and for the people who sacrificed to bring it to us.  I couldn’t help but feeling (as a newly wed) how grateful I am for my eternal marraige, for temples, for the love and support of the Gospel.  This was an amazing day!  We are so glad that we decided to spend the money in gas and go.  It was a great reminder of what is important.  A great way to spend memorial day weekend if you ask me.

P.S. we will post some pictures on here soon!  HERE ARE THE PICTURES!!!!

TEMPLE UNIVERSITY HERE WE COME!!!!

Published by under Uncategorized

Well it is now OFFICIAL….FINALLY!!!!!  We finally heard from Temple University this week.  Burgess is admitted!!!  YAY!  WE DIDN’T MOVE OUT HERE FOR NOTHING!!!!  We cannot express how incredibly relieved we are to be accepted.  We feel so intensely grateful to Heavenly Father for hearing and answering our prayers and helping us get here.  Now the only problem is finguring out where the money is going to come from.  Where money comes from is the mystery we are working on solving every single day.  One thing we have learned that helps is paying tithing, keeping the sabbath day holy, and serving others around us.  So yeah, we are now officially OWLS.  YAY!!!
