Where’s Asher????

Published by under Uncategorized

So one of Burgess’ (and his family’s) favorite things to do on a Saturday morning is to go to “Pam’s” for breakfast.  It is a really a amazing breakfast place in downtown Pittsburgh in the strip district.  It’s Burgess’ favorite part of Pittsburgh and I had never been before so we planned to go today with the rest of the family.

We got up and left just a little after 8 am to pick up Asher (who lives on the south side of Pittsburgh).  Asher is a very “healthy” sleeper so when we showed up outside her house and there was no sign of life inside we really weren’t surprised.  Burgess’ mom went to the door and knocked…..and knocked…..and knocked again…..no answer.  So Burgess gets out of the car to pound on the door surely to wake someone up…..nothing.  Asher’s bedroom window is  on the back side of the house so they decided to walk around to the back and throw a rock at her bedroom window (the house Asher lives in is in a row of attached houses, so to get to the back you have to walk all the way around the block and then pretty much guess which one is hers….) Burg took a guess and threw a rock at someones house and made a really loud crack….but no one moved inside.  Since they weren’t really sure if it was Asher’s house they had just vandalized they chose to come back around to the front of the house rather quickly when they didn’t see Asher get up and go to the window.  They both came back around and started laying into the front door again….(I might mention that Asher and Burg’s mom both just got new cell phone plans and Asher’s old phone had already been turned off but she didn’t have her new phone yet so calling her was not an option)….finally Asher’s roommate half awake and confused comes to the door and is surprised to see that it is her roommates crazy family on the doorstep pounding on the door early on a Saturday morning.  When they asked if Asher was up her roommate said…”uuhh…Asher isn’t home…” to which Burgess’ mom said “Tell Asher when you see her she is in big trouble!”.  We all sat in the car for a few seconds outside the car wondering where in the heck she could be when Burgess’ mom suddenly gasps and says, “OH MY GOSH!  Asher stayed at home last night!!!”

Apparently Asher had called not only her mom and dad the night before to tell them that she was just going to stay at home so that way we could all just wake up and go to breakfast in the morning she also called Burgess to tell him.  We all went to bed pretty early last night (about 10 pm) and she had called everyone after we were all in bed.  She said when she called Burgess he really couldn’t handle the conversation at all (I have no memory of his phone ringing or him getting up and talking to her at all and actually neither does he).  Because Burg was so out of it she called both her mom and dad to let them know, they just didn’t remember until after we banged on Asher’s door and threw rocks at her house and woke up her roommate.  So we rushed home and Asher had slept in a little bit and got up with the house completely empty and was a little devastated that we all left to have “Pam’s” breakfast without her just because she slept in a little bit.  Poor Asher….We do love you Asher we are all just a little senile.

On a happier note we all had just about the best breakfast EVER and had a great time checking out all the Saturday’s markets on the strip and I think we all got a little something too (even the baby).

JOYS OF BAKING A BABY!

Published by under Uncategorized

There is not much going on here in Pittsburgh, just a bunch of busy work.  I haven’t posted anything for a bit so I thought I would share something that Burgess and I have found very funny during this whole pregnancy thing.

So apparently being pregnant makes you pretty emotional.  I have often being flipping through channels and see and commercial or part of a movie and just burst into tears at the tiniest little things.  The other day Burgess took me out to dinner and as we were waiting for our entrees he started to tell me this story about this widow who just couldn’t get over the death of her husband and cried everyday because she missed him so much.  Then one day she was in the celestial room of the temple once again crying over the loss of her husband when her husband appeared to her and told her that she needed to start feeling better and know that they would soon be together because he was so busy he didn’t have time to come comfort her every time she cried.  Burgess was saying that he loved this story because he was touched that the man comforted her every time she cried.  By this time I just couldn’t hold it in any longer and totally starting crying.  Burgess started laughing and then I started laughing so hard that I was crying even worse.  I ended up with mascara all over my eyes and it was kind of embarrassing but it really was funny.

Beating and melting hearts

Published by under Uncategorized

Today was my first pre-natal visit.  Everything looks good and healthy so that is the good news but the best part of the whole appointment was getting to hear the babies heartbeat!  The doctor said it may be too early to hear it because I’m only about 9 weeks, so we didn’t expect to hear anything that we would be able to make out as a heartbeat, but we were WAY wrong!!!!  All of the sudden there was this loud, fast beating heart.  I started to cry and Burgess just looked so shocked.  It was so exciting and so touching at the same time.  My heart just melted and I just fell in love with my little baby!  Now I can’t wait to SEE the baby!  But we’ll just have to be patient that won’t come for a few more weeks.  Anyway, just wanted to share with the world that our baby has a big loud healthy heart and we are completely in love!
